Give history a place
The same notes, another perspective: find the places that give events their meaning.
Locate your markers
A marker can combine a date with a place and its coordinates. It then appears as a point on the context’s map. Select it to return to the passage it came from.
Coordinates are entered manually in this version. Papyrus does not claim to find an exact location automatically from a name.
Move between map and globe
The flat map and globe use the same data. Pan and zoom to explore places at your own pace. A year filter narrows down the markers shown.
Example
From London to Paris
Link passages about London in 1940 and Paris in 1944 to their locations. The example points represent the cities, not the precise site of a building.
Today’s geography, historical markers
The background shows present-day geography without political borders. The time filter applies to your markers; it does not reconstruct the Earth or its cities as they looked on that date.
Historical maps, territories, routes and uncertainty areas are possible future developments. They are not available on the current map.
Return to the story
The map complements notes and timelines. It helps connect places, while your text keeps the sources, nuance and explanations. You choose the markers that help you understand the subject.
